All are politics. Some time back we heard that no other bills could be introduced until the CIR dies. This was told like it was fixed in stone. But now some congressmen introduces the SKIL bill. Ask these questions?
Does CIR needs to die to another similar bill get introduced?
What are the forces which drive to introduce a bill? Does a congressmen go to bed and get up in the morning with a bill?
Does congress / US Govt / people really care for immigrants? If not who cares?
Who can make any Bill get passed by the Govt? In how many days?
BUSINESS, BUSINESS, BUSINESS, TRADE, $$$$$,. Only big business people can influence anything in anywhere in the world. They will get what they want with any governments. Govt cannot run with the support of business people. First comes the business support then the mass votes.
This bill will be passed for sure before August. You and me are not behind this. Microsoft, CISCO and Oralce are the ones indirectly calling the shots. Anti immigrant groups can just talk and shout. Money($$$) will show it in action. Wait and Watch.
Wait until they start getting to the details before being optimistic.
By the way, how long does it take for a bill to get debated and voted on from the time it is introduced? Months? Years??

I agree with you. Why are we penalised for being on H4 Visa ?
Most people on H4 Visas are well educated and would easily be able to contribute to american economy. We are lawabiding and can give so much to american economy. All our talents are wasted and skills are rotting sitting around for the backlog centers to clear the LC's and for retrogression to end.Meanwhile we practically have no life and are completely dependant .
Immigration Voice should try to include the greviances of H4 spuses into consideration.

Did anyone research whether it is possible to get some relief through rulemaking, instead of legislation? For example, there is no 'explicit' prohibition against issuing employment authorization to spouses of H1bi employees. The rule-making agency (in this case the DHS or USCIS) can grant a benefit that spouses be provided with employment authorization. Recently, the USCIS actually did provide regulatory relief by de-coupling the H1bi period of stay from the period of stay in H4 status. An idea to consider...

I am currently on H1 and plan to get married in India next month and file 485 for me and wife next month. She will be able to travel with me on H4. If she starts using EAD after getting it, does that invalidate my H1? I plan to continue with the same employer on H1.
No it does not invalidate your H1. You can keep working on your H1.

Why is the December visa bulletin not available on the USCIS website ?? It still shows November as the current bulletin.

Hi ! My H1B with current employer is valid till March 2010. I got a new job offer and employer is willing to transfer my H1B. I have submitted all the documents.
The attorney of the new employer says, that I can start working with new company once USCIS receives my application. Is it safe? She says Fedex tracking no. is enough. Did any one face this situation? pl.respond. She got instructions from the employer to apply in regular process.How much time it will take to get a receipt no. in regular process?

what makes you think people participate in those? from personal experience
in the MN chapter, it's hard to even get replies to e mails, forget meetings etc. of late though i'm glad to say the MN chapter has really beugun to pick up again.
ask the tri state guys how much effort they put locally- meetings- fliers- phone calls, all by a handful of volunteers. so all this is good in theory and yes it takes time. but the apathy (even hostility) that was encountered was frightening. ask chanduv23 someday what the tri state guys went through...

In two cases, we had people who didn't even answer their phone calls or reply to voicemails while we were waiting to pick them up from the pickup points! That is just unforgivable! One of these "people" were supposed to be part of our Lobby team!

I cannot agree more with all the views. I have been here for over 5 years and couldn't find an employer to change to H-1B. L1 spouses can work and if the new immigration bill is passed a spouse of an illegal (who is legalizing now) via a low skilled job could also work, why can't we? We should have anyways.
There is a bill called TALENT "Through the Advancement of Legal and Educated New Talent.” which if debated and approved would let H-4s work, how can this be done?

Well, if your travel agent offers a Air France ticket, refuse and tell him the reason why u don't want to fly them.
First of all their tickets are way too pricy. People pay shit load of money and get treated like a dogs?? We have choice no matter where u fly from. Try to avoid these European carriers. Try to fly Asian or Indian carriers.
Air France needs to learn that everybody is a customer, irrespective of their skin color/race. And every customer is entitled to same service as rest of them.
This is exactly what I do after a similar experience in 2003. I always discourage my friends and family from flying with Air France though I disagree with the statement about 'European carriers'. I have flow KLM & Swiss and they are very good airlines.
I think the best airlines are US airlines unless you are flying Delta.

We need to do something for sure. I know that most of EB3 folks are stuck for GC more than 7-8 years. I don't see any good progress for EB3 in the future.
I would request from everyone to wake up and take a proactive step. I am ready to give any kind of support.
The problem is most of the EB3 people are happy with their EAD's. and I guess since EB2 looks promising now - they wont care much about EB3 or retro ..so I dont think anybody is going to wake up. maybe we should go to sleep too :)

I was 100% determined in the beginning to attend the rally, but could not for the following reasons.
1> I was in Dallas and family in SoCal for last 9 months(from Dec 2006 to be precise). I used to meet my family every other weekend. Was trying very hard to find a project in Socal, and finally I got one where joining date was Spet 13th. I could not dare to ask for leave in the very first week. To tell you the truth it took so long b'cos of H1 status, everybody wants me to transfer my H1 or they are looking only for GC/EAD holders. Hoping to get EAD soon.
2> My husband was planning to attend but somewhere in Aug last week we got FP notices and date is Sept 18th. The FP letter clearly mentioned that postponing might cause delays so we decided that he also has to drop the idea.
Of course we contributed towards the rally.
I am very proud to be part of such excellent grass root organization and now since I am in Irvine I can be active in Socal chapter.
Also we are eager to join in the next rally and have total faith in IV leadership.

Your message............................ : I would never ever fly Air France, because I am a resident of India and your Airline treat Indians very badly, discriminating because of the country of citizenship and color. Shame on you for making 55 Indians wait in the airport for more then 12 hrs while the rest of passengers (non-indians) were arranged to go and stay in a hotel. Shame on you for ill treating the passengers in your Country (Paris, France). 1 less customer for you Air France!!! My suggestion: Change your attitude. Don't give substandard treatment to non-white passengers.

Flight AF 218 from Paris to Bombay, operated by an Airbus A330 with 169 passengers and 12 crew members on board, left Paris-Charles de Gaulle airport at 12:45 on 10th May and returned at 20:06 on the 10th of May, as while en-route the pilots noticed some vibrations from the Cargo hold, which could not be checked during the flight.
At Paris-Charles de Gaulle, under the supervision of competent authorities, checks were carried out on the technical state of the aircraft but no abnormalities were found.
Passengers with a valid transit visa were put up at nearby hotels for the night. Also despite the fact that transit visa�s are issued by the immigration authorities, Air France staff mediated the issuance of visa�s which turned out to be a time consuming process. Needless to say passengers were taken care of by the Air France ground staff who spoke fluent English and passengers were also provided with food and water.
All the passengers were transferred to another Air France aircraft the next day, flight AF 218A which left Paris-Charles de Gaulle at 14:15 and reached Mumbai safely. Air France regrets any and all inconvenience caused to the passengers due to this incident. At all times, the main concern of Air France is to ensure the security of passenger.
I do hope that the above explanation will help soften the negative impact of this situation and hope to have the privilege of welcoming you aboard Air France in the future, to your entire satisfaction.
