Couple of more questions regarding the dependant AP renewal:
1) Is it necessary to send the previous AP copy. The instructions of I-131 do not mention anything of sending previous copies. Dependent's AP is expired.
2) And as my spouse is maintaining her own H1 and has renewed it last year, do we need to send a copy of recent I-797 also along with the supporting docs. I have written "H1/Pending AOS" in 'Class of Admission' question. So I am assuming I need to send a copy recent H1 also since in the instructions they ask for any current USCIS doc showing status.
Thanks in advance

Dear Pappu
The initiative and effort you and other administrators doing at Immigration voice is commendable. As I have taken up new job only recently i am not able to make it for the advocacy day at Washington. But I had contributed for the advocacy day seperate and the confirmation number is Transaction ID: 8PU10373M6541872R.
Thanks again for all your time and effort.

I hope they have some kind of link with DOL. Because my approved labor case status changed from Certified to Data Review and back to Certified.
Where did you see the change in case status? Do you have access to the PERM system? Are you the employer/representative of the firm responsible for PERM??
thanks

My current H1B was sponosred through an educational institution and was hence cap exempt. Will I be able to transfer my current H1B if I decide to move to a private company?
Thanks!
When I spoke to my Lawyer about the same issue he said that if the H1B visa was never counted against the quota, you can not unless the visa numbers are available in the fiscal year. He also mentioned that the move into for profit company would be considered as a new visa and should counted against the quota.
Thanks!

My worry is that the H4 issue is not being raised. I had a look at the immigration reform issues that are going to be discussed at the Senate debate and the H4 situation is not mentioned at all.
Take a look at this http://www.visapro.com/Immigration-News/?a=390&z=26

So I have trickled into 152 tonight. I thought I'd try my hand at campaigning at some local places and managed 3! It seemed a lot harder than I imagined, I think I need to work on my introduction and smile ;) All three folks looked scared and suspicious of me but atleast they signed! Not giving up hope though! I have some others in the works via some good friends and I am going to try and tap more immigration law firms in SF. I am still pledging 200 and hope for more!! Any tips on campaigning to strangers, and I will be set! Thanks guys.
Have a good eve all.
Hi there,
My experience is people listen and sign only if they have time. They may not stop & listen at a train station, but they do outside grocery stores etc.
Good luck... and thanks!

The person who posed as admin and gave you reds has been banned
Thanks pappu for taking care of this. I just checked and saw that someone left me the exact same comments as Admin. It appears some republican here is a huge Palin fan and this guy is posing as Admin and is posting -ve comments for posts that are against Palin and comments that are in favor of Obama :-).

Asking the question is never the problem, it may make people uncomfortable but I want people (like yourself) who are contributing to at least ask IV before ranting on people like me (who dont contribute) to support the cause...Supporting the cause is NOT equal to giving IV money. The republicans already tried something similar ..."If you are anti-war, you dont support the troops"..That was fallacious and so are all the personal attacks on the "freeloaders" (like myself ofcourse).
this reminds me of a true story of a 5 year old kid who asked his grandma, why are you pouring somuch money building a wall around the empty site when you could have built a nice house. For him to understand and appreciate the necessity to spend money on the wall, he needs to understand numerous things. What can you tell such a kid. You'd smile and leave it at that. Sure he has a valid point about putting the money to a better use.
The point you are making is also same. There is definitely truth in that but there is more around that. When you look at the big picture , you'd get it. Otherwise, when some one tries to explain it , it will sound like a rant.

Dude is absolutely right. There is a lot of support for the cause of the undocumented. Their situation is ever more desperate, and what many people do not understand, because of their numbers and huge contribution to the economy, they pretty much hold this country hostage, because it simply will not be able to survive without them any more. This is why lawmakers are less interested in the cause of legal immigrants.
But there is a flipside to this story for us. EB immigrants can position their suggestions as a solution for the whole immigration system, and not just for helpign with the situation right now, but going into the future. How? Very simple. Increase EB quotas, exempt spouses, and repeal admissibility bars - and you will have a lot more visas left over from EB1-2-3 that go lower skilled 'other workers'. If there is no admissibility bars, they would be able to apply for CP in their countries. Not only that would help current undocumented, it will give future lower skilled worker a chance to come legally. And the best thing - no amnesty to make the antis go bananas again! Just my $0.02.

Bharat,
Did you read post#43 ont his thread. Doors are closed for canadian PR for those are in NON Managerial IT positions. Try Australian PR. here is the helpful link
MODL - Migration occupations in Demand for Australia (MODL) (http://www.australia-migration.com/page/MODL/58)
Yes you are correct. But if you have MBA in mind in future then you can have a look at Canada. A lot of people on H1B have applied for MBA in Canada and they contact me for
views/advice.

We are USCIS's cash cows we'll have to give them milk until the last drop....It was a well thought provision as they knew they'll earn more money in yearly AP/EAD renewals then they were earning in H1B renewals. The answer to your question is "Yes you need to pay the fees everytime you renew it, be it 1000th time"Hi,
I Filled 485+EAD+AP in July fiasco with old fee structure, In July 2008 filled AP+EAD with new fees.
Planning to file AP alone for 2009, I read somewhere that if you paid new fee's for AP then you won't get charged next time.
I am not sure whether I need to pay AP fess again this time or not?
Please share your exp
Thanks

10/20 is fine with me. Another IV member vs116 has agreed to attend it along with me.
I would prefer - Troy, Rochester, Royal Oak , Sterling Heights, Madison Heights, Utica etc. as long as it's agreeable to the majority. I think we should go by majority of participants.
the problem will be meeting venues and times if we join illinois. we do have ton of H1 people here who are on same boat. Lets try to rally them in.....
I am calling all my friends....
Please keep posting here. Lets target the date 10-20-07. We will meet on that day. We will go over the game plan and decide what comes next.
I live in Sterling heights. Please post where you are at, and once we know all, we will decide a centerpoint for everyone to meet.

Note that list of occupations changes constantly. I lived in Canada for 20 years after coming as PR on point system. It works well there, if you think money is not everything. Education is equally good. People, of course are far nicer and friendlier. Even border immigration and custom staff show a friendly face and attitude..
Actually the list of occupations was added from Feb 2008. Prior to that any skilled occupation based on NOC code was eligible.
The main immigration bill was in 2002 called IRPA. What it did was give the rule making authority to the executive branch from the legislative branch. So unlike US, after 2002 IRPA rule in Canada, if there is need to change the rule (eg add occupation list) it does not need the legislature to pass the rule change.
On the whole rules have been tightened. The main problem was that more people were eligible and applied than the annual quota. Now they have pretty much restricted to people who have studied or worked in Canad or belonging to skilled trade occupations.

They will definitely accept the copies of the check. The reason I applied my I-140 in May 07 and didn't got any receipt and I intend to file PPS for which I require copy of I-140 but when I talked to the customer service they suggested me this solution and after that I got my check photocopies from my employer
neeraj,
if the employer does not give u the check then we cant send check copies. :-(
